Latest Liverpool urged to do ‘everything they can’ to sign Cucurella

Liverpool have been advised to pursue Marc Cucurella from Chelsea as they seek a new left-back this summer.

Ex-Anfield defender Glen Johnson believes Cucurella is the ideal replacement for Andy Robertson, who has been with the club for eight years.

Johnson expressed doubts about Liverpool’s current target, Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez.

“If I were Liverpool, I would be doing everything I could to sign Marc Cucurella, he would be my first choice Robertson replacement.”

Johnson praised Cucurella’s impressive form, highlighting his defensive skills, ability on the ball, and attacking contributions.

Cucurella, 26, has developed into one of Chelsea’s key players since joining from Brighton in 2022.

He has made 45 appearances this season and starred in Spain’s European Championship victory last summer.

Johnson noted that Cucurella’s price might be steep, but believes he’s worth it.

“He is being massively overlooked by Liverpool in their search for a left-back, but I doubt Chelsea would be keen to let him go.”

With Robertson’s future at Liverpool uncertain, the Reds will need to find a suitable replacement. Johnson’s endorsement of Cucurella adds weight to the argument that Liverpool should prioritize signing the Spanish left-back.
