The Gunners return to Premier League action tomorrow but there is still so much focus on the summer transfer window with sporting director Andrea Berta already sanctioning six new signings.

 

Exits will now be his priority, with concrete interest in Oleksandr Zinchenko and Leandro Trossard, and enough of them going through could see another addition made. It does not look set to be Eberechi Eze however, with Tottenham stepping up efforts to sign him from Crystal Palace.

Arsenal no longer have as pressing a need for another attacking midfielder after Ethan Nwaneri signed a new long-term contract with the club. Their current focus is on offloading players rather than making further additions to their squad.

 

However, there is somewhat of a market opportunity with Rodrygo that can be realised if Leandro Trossard departs.

 

That could leave the Gunners with an opportunity to make another marquee signing this summer. The Real Madrid star, compared to Eze, fits better with what the team needs, as there is a more pressing need for Mikel Arteta to push Gabriel Martinelli for his starting spot on the left wing than another playmaker in midfield.

Arsenal will need to secure three points against Manchester United to keep pace with their expected Premier League title rivals.

 

Reigning champions Liverpool beat Bournemouth in a six-goal thriller on Friday night and now Manchester City also look set win on the opening weekend with Pep Guardiola’s side currently two goals up at Wolves.

 

Dropping points this early will not overly matter but Mikel Arteta and Co. will be keen to put down a marker.

Arsenal ‘add’ new player to first-team squad

 

Arsenal kick off their Premier League season against Manchester United and their will be a new face but familiar face in the dressing room.

 

Ethan Nwaneri was not allowed to get ready for games alongside his teammates prior to matches because of his age last season.

 

But having turned 18 in March and having signed a new contract with the club, he is part of the first team set-up and will be in the changing room with his teammates at Old Trafford.

Semenyo to Arsenal transfer claim

 

Following his heroic display for Bournemouth against Liverpool on Friday evening, talk of Arsenal links to Antoine Semenyo have re-emerged.

 

A few months ago, and also before he signed a new contract at Vitality Stadium, journalist Ben Jacobs stated that he was very open to moving to Emirates Stadium.

 

However, since penning fresh terms, those links dissipated with Jacobs delivering a clear update on his future. He wrote on X: “Nothing developing here. He signed a new five-year deal. Not leaving.”

Leandro Trossard exit latest

 

Leandro Trossard could be one step closer to an Arsenal exit with Leon Bailey’s potential Aston Villa departure likely to play a role.

 

The Jamaica international is in talks to join AS Roma on a season-long loan with transfer guru Fabrizio Romano revealing his agents have touched down in Italy to try and finalise his switch.

 

If that does go through, Trossard could be signed as his replacement with enquiries for the Belgium international already being made. Jacob Ramsey has also departed for Villa Park for Newcastle United with Unai Emery seemingly light for wide attacking options.

Rodrygo to Man City amid worst-case Arsenal scenario

 

Arsenal could soon see another of their biggest rivals sign a player they have been linked with this summer.

 

In addition to Eberechi Eze potentially joining Tottenham, Savinho also making the move to north London looks set to allow Manchester City to make their move for Real Madrid’s Rodrygo.

 

The Brazil international was deemed too expensive by Arsenal despite an admiration in his abilities.

 

The worst-case scenario for Arsenal would be Spurs bringing in two very exciting attackers, one of whom was linked to Arsenal, while the other move allows Man City to strengthen through the addition of another player of interest to the Gunners.

Zinchenko exit latest

 

Oleksandr Zinchenko is one of many players that could depart Arsenal in the summer transfer window.

 

Interest from Italy and Germany emerged earlier in the window but no formal approaches were made. New links have now emerged surrounding the Ukraine international.

 

According to Sky Sports, Fenerbahce are interested in signing him with it understood conditions over a potential deal are being explored.

Arsenal claim in Eze transfer saga

 

The main reason for Arsenal making a move to sign Eberechi Eze has been revealed.

 

With over £200million spent on six new players and no exits sealed as of yet, that looked to be why links decreased but the real reason is actually a positive one for the Gunners.

 

Writing on X, Sun journalist Tom Barclay said: “As far as I understand it, a deal not been agreed yet but Spurs are pushing for it.

 

“Obviously need a new no10 after Maddison injury. Once Nwaneri signed new deal, Arsenal cooled interest and so a move to Emirates looks less likely now.”

Good afternoon Arsenal fans and welcome back to football.london’s Gunners transfer live blog.

 

Unfortunately, updates surrounding more new signings look to be scarce with it instead being summer targets that look set for moves elsewhere.

 

Eberechi Eze is one of those with a switch from Crystal Palace to Tottenham now looking likely.

 

According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Eze is expected to be left out of Palace’s squad for the trip to Stamford Bridge with talks for his replacement already on.

 

In that report, it is not revealed who that player may be, but The Athletic’s David Ornstein has seemingly confirmed it is Leicester City star Bilal El Khannouss, with an approach made to explore a move for the Morocco international.

New Arsenal injury worry

 

Arsenal were hampered by injuries last season and a new major blow could have arrived ahead of their Premier League opener against Manchester United.

 

While Gabriel Magalhaes and Jurrien Timber have recovered from issues suffered earlier this year, summer arrival Christian Norgaard was not seen in any of the training images uploaded on Friday or the four-minute clip that followed.

 

It is possible he was just not captured or doing indoor work, but there is still reason enough to be concerned. It looked set to be a different defensive midfielder potentially absent for the opener with rumours Zubimendi was ill going around, however Arteta confirmed that he was fine and available.

Latest on deal impacting Trossard future at Arsenal

 

Aston Villa could be about to make their move for Leandro Trossard with a second attacking exit close to being finalised.

 

Jacob Ramsey is set to join Newcastle United in a £43million deal with Villa then making enquiries over Trossard. The need to sign the Belgium international, or at least a new winger, has now increased with Sky Sports claiming that Leon Bailey is close to joining AS Roma on a season-long loan.

 

That switch going through will undoubtedly leave Unai Emery light and he could therefore turn to Trossard as an experienced and Premier League proven replacement.

Arsenal handed early title hope

 

Jamie Carragher has explained why Liverpool may not be outright favourites to retain their Premier League title.

 

Arsenal have finished second in the last three campaigns but after a big summer, will be hoping to go one better.

 

Wholesale changes have also taken place at Liverpool with Carragher admitting they may still need to sign more players.

 

“That is the worry (a churn of players) and Liverpool haven’t looked themselves in pre-season,” he said on Sky Sports.

 

“You might say it sounds strange, but I am going to say it now but Liverpool still need more players because of the actual players that have gone out.

 

“You think of the amount of forwards Liverpool had last season, they’ve lost three and they have brought one in

 

“So Liverpool still need to bring at least one more forward in, maybe one more defneder and then that is a formidable squad that will look to attack the Premier League and the Champions League.

 

“This is not about the ownerhip now throwing loads of money about. Liverpool feel this is the right thing to do.

 

“I think Liverpool will now go maybe two or three windows without spending again, because they will feel like ‘right we have got the squad, it is a great age and we are almost getting ready for the time Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk maybe move on in two years’ time

 

Amorim issues Gyokeres verdict

 

Ruben Amorim has fired a message to Viktor Gyokeres ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Arsenal on Sunday.

 

Amorim managed Gyokeres at Sporting CP before he left for United last year and the striker has also swapped Portugal for England, signing for Arsenal this summer.

 

Viktor is in a different league, the physicality is different. In Sporting, they have a very good group of scouting, because we get from that the players that they can buy and then sell to survive.

 

I think he’s a very good player, he’s going to give different characteristics. It’s going to be different if we face in the beginning of the game if we face Viktor or (Kai) Havertz, for example.

 

So, we need to be prepared for that, but it’s not a surprise to watch Viktor in a big club in England.

Stuttgart deal agreed amid Vieira talks

 

Fabio Vieira has been in talks to join Stuttgart but it looks as though the German club have been focused on a different deal.

 

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Tiago Tomas is on his way to Stuttgart from Wolfsburg in a £12.9million (€15m) transfer.

 

Vieira is one of several fringe players expected to depart Emirates Stadium this summer with Reiss Nelson, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Leandro Trossard others that could yet leave.

Tottenham appear to be getting closer to sign Arsenal transfer target Eberechi Eze.

 

Spurs made their move for the Crystal Palace star earlier this week following confirmation of James Maddison’s knee injury and while the Gunners are more focused on outgongs. The Lilywhites are also pursuing a deal to sign Manchester City star Savinho.

 

The latest on Eze meanwhile, as per the Independent, is that Tottenham are £7million away from Palace’s valuation. It is unclear what that is but his release clause is believed to be around £67.5million which suggests their first offer was in the region of £60million.

‘Agreement reached’

 

Arsenal have reportedly finalised a transfer agreement with Fenerbahce for Oleksandr Zinchenko.

 

According to Turkish outlet Sporx, Fenerbahce are set to make one of the most high-profile moves of the Turkish summer transfer window.

 

It’s said the Super Lig side initially offered €10m (£8m), and negotiations have progressed to the point that they now have a deal in place with Arsenal.

 

Portuguese giants FC Porto and Napoli were also linked with a move for Zinchenko.

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur both reportedly ‘decided against’ signing Garnacho from Manchester United this summer.

 

The north London rivals, as well as another interested party in Atletico Madrid, conducted thorough assessments of Garnacho before choosing to look elsewhere for attacking reinforcements, reports football.london’s colleagues at the Manchester Evening News.

 

Atletico Madrid, Garnacho’s previous club, contemplated bringing back the Argentine international but instead signed fellow winger Alex Baena from Villarreal. Chelsea remain the favourites to sign Garnacho.

 

His agents, Carlos Cambeiro and Enrique de Lucas, visited Chelsea during the January transfer window, with De Lucas having played for the Club World Cup winners in the 2002-03 season. United’s head coach Ruben Amorim gave Garnacho permission to leave in May.

 

Amorim was dissatisfied with Garnacho’s lack of focus as he prepared to come on against Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League three days prior.

 

“I think (with) Garnacho, you can understand and you can see, he’s talented, he’s a really talented boy,” Amorim said last month. “And sometimes things don’t work out. You cannot explain specifically what it is. But I have the feeling, I think it’s clear that Garnacho wants a different thing with a different leadership. And I can understand that. So I think it’s not a problem.

 

“Sometimes you adapt to one guy, you have the connection. “Other times, you want a new challenge. So, we try to make everything okay to all the parts. “To the club, to the coach and to the players. So, it’s a natural thing in football.”

Ian Wright shares views on Gyokeres and Sesko

 

Wright believes Viktor Gyokeres will outperform Benjamin Sesko in the Premier League this season.

 

“You look at Sesko and he scored 13 goals in 38 games in the German league, Marmoush left in December (23 January) and had 15,” the Arsenal icon said on the Overlap. “That says to me as a striker that he should be scoring more at that level, so you’re coming to United… I think Gyokeres… he’s got such great ability and physical, I think he’s going to be another [level]. He’ll get 15 [goals].

 

“But that is a worry, 13 for a whole season, that would be a worry for me… what if he [Sesko] got 10 goals [in the Premier League]? What if he got 10? Because you just turned your nose up at me when I mentioned Gyokeres and 10 [goals], and now you’re thinking about Sesko and 10 [goals].

 

“I don’t care [that Gyokeres is further in his career]. It’s Man United and you have to expect it… am I hearing this right?! Why can’t I have [10 goals] for Gyokeres? When I said 10 you turned your nose up like I was smelling poo.”

Mikel Arteta has said that Leandro Trossard and Martin Zubimendi should be fit for the weekend.

 

Several squad members had been questioned during pre-season. Riccardo Calafiori and Gabriel Magalhaes suffered knocks while in Asia but returned to action in London, while Jurrien Timber completed his recovery from ankle surgery.

 

Kai Havertz too was unable to face Villarreal but returned and scored against Athletic Club. New signings have also had time to integrate with Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyokeres getting some important minutes.

 

However, since suffering a muscular problem against Tottenham, Leandro Trossard has not been available for any fixtures, missing both games at the Emirates Stadium. Providing the latest on team news, Arteta divulged as much as he was willing before such a big clash.

 

“Yeah I think [Trossard is] much better,” he said. “I think he will be able to train again tomorrow and if that’s the case, he will be fit.”

 

However, Arteta did confirm that Zubimendi who was missing from the club’s media day images despite rumours of illness will be in the squad on Sunday.

 

“Yes he had a great integration a very big impact and he will be fit,” he said.

BetFair: The Nation predicts

 

Arsenal are not tipped to win the 2025/26 Premier League title.

 

According to BetFair, fans are backing Liverpool to retain their crown, with Manchester City and Arsenal the second and third most popular title picks, respectively. Unsurprisingly, a majority of Arsenal fans (54%) believe their team will win the league, while 27% think Liverpool will lift the trophy for a second straight season.

 

Nearly half of Manchester United fans (49%) also expect Liverpool to defend their title, while only 44% of Manchester City supporters believe their side will reclaim the Premier League.

Eberechi Eze’s £68m release clause at Crystal Palace expires today (August 15).

 

Both Arsenal and Tottenham are reportedly interested in the midfielder. Fabrizio Romano reported on Thursday that Spurs are ready to open formal talks with Eze.

 

Romano adds that a return to the negotiating table is planned, with Eze reportedly keen on a move to the Lilywhites if the two clubs can agree on a fee.

Arsenal make U-turn on transfer

 

According to our colleagues at The Manchester Evening News, Arsenal conducted due diligence on Alejandro Garnacho but ultimately decided to end their pursuit of the 21-year-old.

 

The Gunners instead secured winger Noni Madueke from Chelsea.

 

Garnacho is expected to join Chelsea this summer after falling out of Ruben Amorim’s plans at Old Trafford.

Tutto Juve understands that Oleksandr Zinchenko is being offered to a number of Italian clubs.

 

The report also adds Napoli are keen on the idea of a loan move. The report claims Arsenal could cover half of the player’s current €7.6m wages to facilitate a loan move, with the final days of the transfer window likely to be crucial for Zinchenko’s future.

Arsenal legend explains Spurs’ key advantage in the Eberechi Eze transfer chase

 

Arsenal legend Lee Dixon believes Tottenham have gained a significant edge in the race to sign Eberechi Eze.

 

“There’s obviously only one choice!” Dixon joked, when asked by 10bet which team Eze should sign for. “But,from his point of view, he probably knows that he’ll have a better chance of playing every week at Tottenham than he would at Arsenal simply because Arsenal’s squad is better. At Arsenal, he may have to accept more of a squad role. He’s another one that has the ability to play in multiple areas, and that is what he would have to do at Arsenal.

 

“I could see him operating off the left, off the right and centrally, but Arsenal have quality players that can play in those areas and he’d be competing with them to get in the team. He’d back himself to get in the team. With the amount of games Arsenal will play, he’d play a lot of football, but he wouldn’t start every week. There’s definitely a place for him at Arsenal, that’s for sure.”

 

Asked if Eze could make the difference between another near miss and finally ending the wait for a major trophy, Dixon added: “It’s always better to have too many top players than not enough, it’s a nice problem for any manager to have. We’ve seen over the last few years that we’ve just fallen short a little bit in the important parts of the season. Having a player like Eze in your squad might be able to change that a little bit, having someone who is a bit unpredictable and can produce moments of inspiration.

 

“It only takes a couple of flashes of genius, and that turns games that Arsenal drew last season into wins. He’s definitely a player that gives you something different to what you have. For Arsenal, it’s about how you improve because finishing second three years on the trot has people questioning your quality. We’re very, very close to being able to win the Premier League title, and maybe Eze could offer that little bit extra that pushes you over the line or gives you an extra five or six points come the end of the season.”

 

Eberechi Eze has been linked with both Arsenal and Spurs this summer.

According to Spanish outlet Football Espana, Real Madrid’s valuation of Rodrygo is an overall package of around €100million (£86m).

 

This figure is said to be Man City’s exact valuation of the winger. The report adds that Pep Guardiola and the club’s hierarchy are considering an €80m (£69m) bid for the 24-year-old, with add-ons potentially pushing the deal to around €100m.

 

However, any move for the La Liga star appears to depend on the future of City’s own Brazilian winger, Savinho, who is reportedly closing in on a switch to Tottenham Hotspur.

 

Meanwhile, reports in Brazil claim that Savinho’s agent, Frederico Moraes, has flown to England for further negotiations next week. The winger is eager to secure more regular playing time ahead of next summer’s World Cup.

Four Arsenal transfers could be completed before Man Utd clash as secret deadline approaches

 

Andrea Berta is in a race against time to bolster Arsenal’s squad before the opening weekend of the new Premier League season.

 

The transfer window doesn’t shut until September 1, but Mikel Arteta will want any remaining business wrapped up before the Gunners face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

 

football.london understands that Arsenal are interested in signing the Crystal Palace star, with Arteta said to be a big fan. Eze has always preferred a move to the Emirates Stadium but, with Berta recently focused on outgoings, the door was left open for Spurs to swoop in.

 

It’s understood that the England international has a release clause, which is worth £67.5m and expires before the start of the 2025/26 campaign, in his contract at Selhurst Park. Eze’s current deal in south London doesn’t run out until June 2027.

Theo Walcott ‘tells’ Eze to reject Arsenal move

 

Theo Walcott has explained why he believes Eze should snub Arsenal and stay at Crystal Palace this season.

 

Speaking in the It’s Called Soccer podcast, the former Gunners forward said: “I think the big thing we have got to look at is the World Cup year. The good thing about Eze’s situation is that he can play every week at Palace.

 

“He has that maverick quality and accepts making and taking those risks. I think he’s a player who can take those risks at Palace. I don’t think he’ll get that at Arsenal. But if he has a really good season with Palace, he’ll go to the World Cup, I’m pretty sure of that. Then what teams will look at him after that?

 

“If I were Eze, I’d probably stay put – just because it’s a World Cup year. If it wasn’t, I’d move on…”
