Rio Ferdinand stunned by Konate’s non-expulsion
In the 25th minute, PSG’s Bradley Barcola broke through, only to be halted by Ibrahima Konate. Many saw it as a clear foul by the centre-back – worthy of a red card and possibly a penalty – but VAR deemed it legal.
Rio Ferdinand has also shared his thoughts: “It’s a foul. It’s in his back – it’s a foul. That’s a red card. If it’s not a red, I’m shocked.” At halftime, with Liverpool still at full strength, Ferdinand doubled down:
“I can’t believe Liverpool’s luck here. How did VAR miss that? He pushes him between the shoulder blades, right in the back.” Rio Ferdinand said.
Refereeing, once again, takes center stage in recent football debates.
