‘He’s a rat AND a snake’: Liverpool fans can’t believe Trent is nearing Real Madrid transfer

They are flabbergasted, really.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is currently negotiating with Real Madrid to join them on a free transfer this summer, ending his 21-year association with Liverpool.

He has reportedly agreed to a five-year contract worth over £220,000 per week. This move has sparked angry reactions among Liverpool fans.

Instead of renewing his contract with Liverpool, Trent appears to have made up his mind to embark on a new challenge.

The general sentiment is that Trent is trashing his legacy at Merseyside, despite so many good years together.

Here are some reactions from X, as Liverpool fans get used to the new reality.

LFCLaurie: “I no longer have to pretend that Trent can defend and isn’t a system player?”

Anfield Edition: “An £150m player who has been here since 8 years old leaving for nothing. Rat.”

ChrisLFC: “Corner wasn’t even taken that quickly.”

J7lfc: “Reece James had Madrid calling for him and immediately signed a 9-year contract extension.”

Irene: “We should purposely bottle the league so he doesn’t get another medal.”

Dan: “Blaming the owners for the Trent situ is empty head behaviour. Trent’s had this planned since 2021 btw, it’s the reason why he only signed for 4 years instead of 6, he’s ran his contract down on purpose and it’s exactly how he wanted it to end, he’s a rat and he’s a snake.”

Will: “Rumours Trent tried to sign the contract but it dribbled past him.”

LFCGeezy: “The grass isn’t always greener Trent.”
