LIVERPOOL 2025/26, IF RUMOURS ARE TRUE ⏳FSG hatches £300m Summer transfer plan to sign seven players
Liverpool’s 5 summer transfer priorities ranked in order of importance
Liverpool is expected to be busy in the transfer market during the summer window as the club targets new players in order to strengthen the squad in a number of positions
A striker should be a priority for Liverpool but a center-back needn’t be with Virgil van Dijk set to stay
Liverpool could sign new players in five positions this summer, with the playing squad expected to have far more of an Arne Slot look about it next season.
Slot’s only outfield signing since arriving at Anfield remains Federico Chiesa, who was an opportunistic buy from Juventus last summer but has barely played.

Virgil van Dijk shares emotional impact of Liverpool on his children after signing new deal
It turns out, the group Jurgen Klopp left behind was pretty good, with the Premier League title set to be wrapped up in the coming weeks — it could even be secured on Sunday if Arsenal loses and Liverpool wins — but the squad is undoubtedly in need of some work.
A new right-back, left-back, center-back, holding midfielder and striker are said to be on the agenda, and Liverpool.com has ranked them in order of how important each of them are to Liverpool this summer…
5. Least important — a new center-back
Given Joe Gomez’s injury issues, it would be nice for Liverpool to have another center-back to go alongside Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Jarell Quansah next season, but it is not absolutely essential, particularly if Gomez bounces back from the hamstring surgery he underwent earlier this year.
Van Dijk’s imminent new contract is expected to tie him to the club until 2027, while the club is keen to tie Konate down to fresh terms, although that could prove to be an issue considering he is said to want a 150 percent increase on his salary from $102,000 per week to $255,000 per week. Still, he is unlikely to be sold this summer.
4. A new holding midfielder
It was tough to know where to rank this position, and the decision was taken to put it at number four because Liverpool does not need a new holding midfielder to come in and be a regular first-team starter, which may well be the case with the three remaining positions.
Ryan Gravenberch’s form has dipped in recent times and that is entirely understandable given the demands that have been put on him this term. Wataru Endo is a completely different profile of player to the Dutchman, so Arne Slot has been reluctant to give him too much game time. Endo will likely leave this summer, and a replacement like Angelo Stiller of Stuttgart, who has been linked, would be welcome.
Ryan Gravenberch has been brilliant but needs back-up
3. A new left-back
Liverpool has Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas in this position but Robertson has endured a regressive season and Tsimikas has shown little to suggest that he might be capable of usurping the Scot as the Reds’ first-choice left-back.
It has emerged as an area of weakness in Liverpool’s team and Milos Kerkez of Bournemouth has been frequently linked with a move to Anfield, where he would probably be immediately installed as the team’s main left-back.
2. A new right-back
Liverpool will undoubtedly dip into the market for a new right-back to offset the expected departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold, but it is not yet clear which direction the club will go in.
