Liverpool supporters have been left convinced that Alexander Isak is moving to Anfield after Newcastle’s update on the striker.

The Sweden international has established himself as one of the best strikers in the Premier League, notching 23 goals in 34 top-flight appearances last season.

Only Anfield fan favourite Mohamed Salah scored more Premier League goals than the 25-year-old last season.

Thanks to the former Real Sociedad man’s notable eye for goal, Liverpool are keen on Isak as Arne Slot looks to continue strengthening his defending top-flight champions.

The Reds have already flexed their muscles in the transfer market by signing the likes of former Bayer Leverkusen duo Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz.

The Sweden international scored against Slot’s men to win the Carabao Cup final for the Magpies in March, but a move to Merseyside would see him vying for more silverware.

Amid their interest in Isak, Liverpool could sell Darwin Nunez for a cut-price deal as exclusively revealed to Football Insider by former Manchester United and Blackburn Rovers chief scout Mick Brown.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are closing in on Sporting hotshot Viktor Gyokeres, whereas Manchester City enjoy the services of Erling Haaland.

Although Liverpool deserve huge credit for winning the Premier League title in Slot’s first season in charge at Anfield, the North West side were overly reliant on Salah.

The Egyptian superstar underperformed when the Reds were beaten by PSG in the last 16 of the Champions League, and was also far from his best in the aforementioned Wembley loss to Newcastle.

Meanwhile, the potential arrival of Isak would help Slot’s side battle for more silverware to add to their ever-growing collection.

Elsewhere, Liverpool News 247 have exclusively revealed that Slot is keen to sign a striker who fits his system amid the Reds’ interest in the Sweden star.

Newcastle shared photos on X of both Isak and his Magpies teammate, Sandro Tonali on Monday, 14 July, captioned: “Look who’s here!”

However, the post that was intended to excite supporters of the North East club instead attracted plenty of attention from Liverpool fans, with one member of the Anfield faithful commenting: “Isak saying goodbye to Newcastle just before he joins LFC,” while another said: “Will look better in red, Isak.”
