Liverpool transfer news live as Alexander Isak has been in talks with Newcastle amid ongoing links with the Reds and Harvey Elliott’s future could soon be decided.

After a sensational start to the summer, Liverpool looks set to enter the next phase of the transfer window, which could see the Reds taking on some very different business.

 

Five signings have been made so far, with Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez showing their intent after the Premier League title triumph, while goalkeepers Armin Pecsi and Freddie Woodman have also been added to the ranks.

 

Now, it looks as though Liverpool’s attentions will turn to selling, with Jarell Quansah reportedly ready for his medical at Bayer Leverkusen this week.

 

He could be joined out of the exit door by one of his England U21 teammates, with Liverpool now facing a big decision over Harvey Elliott’s future after his heroics in the Young Lions defending their European Championship crown.

 

The Reds will hope to recoup some money over the next few weeks that could facilitate some more big moves before the end of the window as links with Marc Guehi grow stronger, and the speculation around Alexander Isak is not about to go away.

Former Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp has admitted that Florian Wirtz must hit the ground running to avoid extreme pressure, after completing his $156 million transfer.

 

In an interview with German publication, Welt, Klopp said: “We all agree that we are talking about a great player here.

 

“I know that I once said that I’m out if we pay £100 million for a player. But the world is changing. That’s just the way the market is. There’s no question about it, it’s an insane sum, and one that a player at Liverpool is aware of if things don’t go well for two or three games.

Tottenham has a long-standing interest in Marc Guehi

 

Liverpool has been heavily linked with Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, who is reportedly only interested in joining the Reds if he leaves the South London club.

 

However, Palace has placed a $62 million price tag on Guehi, and Liverpool is unwilling to match that valuation as his contract ends in 12 months.

 

Tottenham may therefore attempt to hijack a deal, according to BBC Sport.

 

New Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank is assessing his defensive options, with Cristian Romero’s long-term future unclear.

 

Bayern Munich enters the race for Luis Diaz

 

Liverpool winger Luis Diaz has been heavily linked with Barcelona, despite claiming he is happy in Merseyside with the Premier League champions.

 

However, Sky in Germany has reported that Bayern Munich is exploring a potential deal. The Bundesliga champions have already lost out on signing Florian Wirtz after the German signed for Liverpool, and were shocked by Leroy Sane’s departure.

 

Sane snubbed an extension to join Turkish club Galatasaray, and Diaz is seen as the perfect replacement.

Arsenal could have Hugo Ekitike advantage

 

Arsenal could have the advantage in the race to sign Hugo Ekitike this summer.

 

The Reds have been heavily linked with the Frankfurt striker and have apparently already done their homework on him, as well as Alexander Isak and Victor Osimhen.

 

But Arsenal doesn’t need to sell players, and Liverpool does, giving last season’s second-placed side an advantage.

Today marks 12 years to the day that Liverpool owner John W. Henry hit out at Arsenal after the Gunners tried and failed to sign Luis Suarez.

 

The Uruguayan striker was widely recognized as one of the best players on the planet at the time, and had been tipped to leave Liverpool in order to compete for trophies, which at the time hadn’t been flowing at Anfield.

 

After Arsenal bid £40 million and one pound, however, the equivalent of $54 million and one dollar, believeing it had triggered Suarez’s release clause, Henry dismissed the bid, tweeting: “What do you think they’re smoking over there at Emirates?”

Title rival strengthening

 

Arsenal is reportedly narrowing its search for a new striker ahead of the new season, with Mikel Arteta desperate to ditch the ‘bridesmaid’ tag his side has adopted after consecutive second-place finishes.

 

The Gunners finished second to Liverpool last season, due in large part to how weak Arsenal was in attack. While Liverpool had a host of forwards bagging goals, Arsenal spluttered in front of goal and was forced into playing Mikel Morino up top.

 

Now, Arsenal is looking at Benjamin Sesko, Viktor Gyokeres and Hugo Ekitike as possible targets.

Man Utd wants Watkins

 

Manchester United is reportedly looking at Ollie Watkins as the club continues its search for a striker, potentially opening up some doors for Liverpool.

 

It’s no secret the reigning Premier League champions want to sign a striker this summer, and Viktor Gyokeres has been tentatively linked.

 

The Sporting Lisbon ace has long been courted by United, but the door could be open for Liverpool to pounce if United moves for Watkins instead.

Tyler Morton wanted by multiple clubs

 

Liverpool midfielder Tyler Morton is of interest to Braga this summer, according to The Times. Ajax, West Ham United and Club Brugges are also said to be keen on the 22-year-old.

 

Morton was denied an exit last summer when Bayer Leverkusen was keen on him. A year later, he is expected to move on in order to get regular game time.

Barcelona still wants Luis Diaz

 

Some Barcelona board members would still prefer to sign Luis Diaz from Liverpool this summer rather than Nico Williams from Athletic Club.

 

That is according to journalist Gerard Romero and it comes amid Williams reportedly upping his demands to get a transfer deal over the line, despite a previous verbal agreement over what his terms would be.

 

The Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr is also interested in Diaz. Liverpool doesn’t want to lose the Colombian but a crazy offer could force its hand.

Harvey Elliott has new option

 

Newcastle United is increasingly “attentive” to the situation of Harvey Elliott, according to TBR Football. This comes after the North East side missed out on signing Joao Pedro, who is heading to Chelsea.

 

Elliott is likely to leave Liverpool in search of more regular game time, though that is not nailed on at this point. A Newcastle switch would mean him moving to another club that has European soccer next season.

Ibrahima Konate transfer claim

 

Liverpool could be “forced” into selling Ibrahima Konate for a cut-price fee of between $55 million (£40 million) and $68 million (£50 million) this summer, according to Football Insider.

 

Konate is entering the final season of his current Liverpool contract and there has been no breakthrough yet regarding an extension. Real Madrid and PSG have both been linked.

Trey Nyoni signs new contract

 

Exciting young Liverpool midfielder Trey Nyoni has signed a new contract with the Reds two years on from arriving from Leicester City, marking his 18th birthday with a present that marks the latest sign in his progression on Merseyside.

“There was a possibility, a real possibility, for him to go to Atletico Madrid, but then Liverpool didn’t want the player to leave on a free transfer,” Fabrizio Romano writes for Caught Offside.

 

“Now let’s see what’s going to happen with more clubs interested. At the moment, the player himself has not decided what he wants to do.

 

“He never gave any final green light to Atletico, to respect Liverpool, and make his decision on the future very soon.”

Liverpool and Chelsea have both been linked with a move for Lyon talent Malick Fofana this summer.

 

But the 19-year-old winger has now been spotted in pre-season training wearing a Manchester United shirt with Marcus Rashford’s name on the back.

 

Could he be moving on? It seems likely after Lyon was relegated due to financial troubles. That shirt, though, could be a hint that he won’t be signing for Liverpool.
