According to Spanish media outlet Marca, Ibrahima Konate is one of the centre-backs Real Madrid are eyeing ahead of the summer transfer window.
However, Liverpool value the French international at €100m, and Real Madrid have no intention of meeting this valuation.
Instead, they are leaning towards focusing their efforts on Dean Huijsen. The Bournemouth centre-back who is also linked with Liverpool has a €58m release clause in his contract.
As for Konate, his current contract expires next year. Marca’s report does not specify whether Real Madrid have decided to repeat the Trent Alexander-Arnold trick. However, knowing their transfer history, it’s hardly beyond the realm of possibility.
