Liverpool vs PSG: Champions League last-16 second leg latest
Liverpool and Paris Saint-German meet again today for the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.
It was just six days ago that they did battle in the French capital with Alisson and Harvey Elliott the heroes for the Premier League leaders.
Liverpool somehow left the Parc des Princes with a 1-0 aggregate lead despite PSG dominating the entire first leg. A string of superb Alisson saves laid the foundations for substitute Elliott to score the game’s only goal in the 87th minute.
The winner of this tie will face either Aston Villa or Club Brugge in the quarter-final.
Kick-off time: 8pm GMT, 4pm ET, 1pm PT
How to watch: Prime Video, Discovery+ (UK), Paramount+ (U.S.)
Team news: Announced at 6:45pm GMT
The first leg: A classic of the smash-and-grab genre
Every team going away in Europe for the first leg of a knockout tie knows that there will be a storm or two to weather.
For Liverpool in Paris last week, the storm did not relent. And, thanks almost entirely to Alisson, they somehow avoided getting wet.
And, as if their luck had not already run out in the French capital, the storm clouds cleared in the 87th minute.
Darwin Nunez did brilliantly to hold off Marquinhos before laying the ball into the path of fellow substitute Harvey Elliott. The 21-year-old needed no second invitation and curled a left-footed effort past Gianluigi Donnarumma — who probably should have saved it — and into the bottom corner.
Cue delirium for the players in red and the travelling Liverpool supporters in a tucked-away corner of the Parc des Princes.
