Liverpool will be enjoying Christmas sitting at the top of the Premier League table. The Reds claimed a 6-3 win over Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend to extend their lead at the top of the league standings.

Arne Slot’s side are four points clear of Chelsea with a game in hand and also have a six-point advantage over Arsenal. Liverpool still have 22 top-flight fixtures left to play this term, starting with a home clash against Leicester City on Boxing Day.

The weekend saw two of Liverpool’s title rivals drop points, with Chelsea being held to a goalless draw with Everton. Manchester City were also beaten by Aston Villa, meaning the Reds now have a 12-point lead with a game in hand over the reigning league champions.

All 20 Premier League clubs will play over Boxing Day and Friday, with further fixtures scheduled over New Year as January fast approaches. Liverpool have matches in both the top flight and the FA Cup over the next few weeks while also looking ahead to the return of Champions League football and the Carabao Cup semi-final against Tottenham Hotspur.
