BREAKING NEWS LIVE :Manchester City Have ‘Discussed’ Hijacking £35M Liverpool Transfer But Bid Will Only Be Tabled On One Condition

Man City are interested in signing Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi, according to reports.

The England international could be available for around £35m and the Daily Star Sunday claim that Pep Guardiola’s side have “discussed” entering the race for the defender.

Guehi has less than a year left on his contract at Selhurst Park, and Eagles chairman Steve Parish has publicly stated that his club would have to consider selling him before the transfer window closes if he doesn’t sign an extension.

The centre-back reportedly has no intention of putting pen to paper on a new deal so his departure ahead of next Monday’s deadline is likely.

A Premier League rival are favourites for Guehi’s signature

While the likes of Tottenham, Barcelona and others have been linked with signing the 25-year-old, Liverpool are widely regarded as the team likeliest to secure his services.

The Reds have held discussions with Palace, but there is believed to be a significant gap between the two parties on their valuation of Guehi.

That could provide Cityzens with the opportunity to swoop in and complete the deal ahead of their rivals.

Man City need to offload players first

The Daily Star report that a bid for Guehi is not expected to be tabled before either Manuel Akanji or Nathan Ake is sold.

Akanji is attracting interest from Galatasaray and there has been some speculation that Everton are keen on Ake.

However, at this stage, neither deal has reached an advanced stage, and that could present issues if they need to make a quick move for Guehi. For the time being, the former Chelsea defender is still on the market, but that could change in the blink of an eye. We shall see how this story unfolds over the next week.
