Official: Liverpool’s Ben Doak Joins Bournemouth on Permanent Transfer

The 19-year-old Scottish winger is headed south in a transfer deal worth £25M.

Liverpool’s summer overhaul has already seen plenty of changes to the squad ahead of Arne Slot’s second season, and more is expected as the summer transfer window heads into its final stretch. Today, one of those expected changes went from nearly official to officially official as Ben Doak completed his transfer to Bournemouth.

The 19-year-old Scottish international arrived on Merseyside three summers ago and made ten appearances in his first two seasons at the club before heading out on loan to Middlesborough last summer. With a year left on his contract and his place in the squad uncertain heading into the new season, he now moves seeking a clearer path to first team football with another Premier League club.

Bournemouth have paid £25M for the highly rated young winger who Liverpool nabbed from Celtic in 2022 in exchange for £600k in training compensation. The deal is also believed to include a buyback clause, ensuring that the Reds will have first crack at Doak down the road if he excels on the south coast for his new club.

Heading into the summer there had been some speculation that Doak might yet earn a first team place with the Reds, and the sales of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nuñez in recent weeks certainly have freed up space in the front line, but Liverpool’s focus remains on bringing in a more proven player to round out their attacking depth chart.
