Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus ended his poor run of form with a superb hat-trick against Crystal Palace to fire Mikel Arteta’s men into the Carabao Cup semi-finals on Wednesday

Gabriel Jesus told Martin Odegaard that he would score against Crystal Palace – if the Arsenal captain kept putting balls in behind.

The former Manchester City forward, 27, plundered a superb second half hat-trick to fire the Gunners into the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup at Palace’s expense, even though the Eagles had led early courtesy of Jean-Phillipe Mateta

jesus has yet to score in the Premier League this season but his treble could be the catalyst for an upturn in form. And he revealed post-match that he was certain the goals would come if Odegaard and Bukayo Saka kept doing what they were doing on the night.

He explained post-match: “Obviously the first half wasn’t our best, but still in the second half we did our job, we created more, we kept the ball more, circulated the ball, made passes and then Martin put in two amazing balls in the end and B [Bukayo Saka] as well, and I could finish the action.
