Reports live ‼️‼️ Liverpool injury news: Alexis Mac Allister update issued by Arne Slot ahead Arsenal Premier League showdown

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has provided a fresh update on the fitness of midfielder Alexis Mac Allister ahead of the Reds’ Premier League clash with Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday.
Ater helping Liverpool beat Bournemouth 4-2 in the opening league fixture of the new season, Mac Allister was a notable absentee as the reigning champions secured maximum points in an enthralling last-gasp 3-2 victory at Newcastle United on Monday night.
The 26-year-old, who missed almost three months of action prior to his late return to pre-season, withdrew from a first-team training session before the trip to Newcastle due to a fitness concern.
Slot has suggested that Liverpool have been careful not to overexert the Argentina international following his disrupted summer, but he does not believe that the midfielder’s issue is serious and is hopeful that he can call upon his services for the clash against Arsenal.
Speaking to reporters after Liverpool’s win at St James’ Park, Slot said: “We are hoping [he will be available], yes.
“He had to leave the training pitch two days ago and that would not even be the biggest problem if he would have had a proper pre-season, but he missed out for so many weeks.

Liverpool given Mac Allister fitness boost before Arsenal clash
“There is a reason why you go inside, because you probably feel something, and that is the difficult balance to find with players that were out for so long in pre-season.
“There you bring the base for the whole season and you can see these intensity levels, like we faced last week and this topped it up 10 times, I think.
“Then you need to be so, so, so fit and then it is always a risk if you bring a player that had a pre-season like this, had to go out two days ago in a training session, in this environment.
“With such a long season to go, it was too much of a risk for me but I am hoping, hoping things in the upcoming one or two days so that he is available for Sunday.”
Midfield trio Ryan Gravenberch, Curtis Jones and Dominik Szoboszlai all started in the win at Newcastle, although the latter operated as a makeshift right-back in the absence of injured summer signing Jeramie Frimpong.
Conor Bradley, meanwhile, was not deemed fit to start after recovering from injury, but the right-back came on in the 80th minute at St James’ Park and he could be ready to return to the first XI when Liverpool welcome Arsenal to Merseyside.
