The summer transfer window will reopen on Monday and Arsenal will be looking to get moving on deals to strengthen Mikel Arteta ‘s playing squad.

After three straight runners-up finishes in the Premier League, as well as a Champions League semi-final this season, Arteta will be looking to improve his squad to really challenge for the Premier League title in 2025/26.

football.london understands Arsenal are hoping to add a new goalkeeper, defender, midfielder striker and potentially a wide forward to the squad before the transfer window closes on September 1, but they have yet to sign anyone.

The transfer window did open initally for ten days from June 1 to June 10, designed to allow clubs competing in the Club World Cup in the United States of America the opportunity to strengthen their squads before the tournament began.

Arsenal did not make any signings. Meanwhile, rivals Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United all brought in new faces, meaning the Gunners have been left behind somewhat.

But with the transfer window reopening in a couple of days, we thought we would take a look at just what a best case summer would look like for the Gunners.

Incomings

Arsenal are in the market for five new signings, so the best case scenario in this regard would be to being in five new players.

First up, the goalkeeper position looks like it has already been sorted, with Kepa Arrizabalaga set to join for £5million from London rivals Chelsea. That’s a far cry from the £71million the Blues splashed out to sign him in 2018.

Next up the midfielder position looks nailed on too, with Martin Zubimendi set to join from Real Sociedad. There was late interest from Real Madrid, but it appears Los Blancos have turned their attentions elsewhere now and Arsenal are likely to tie up a £51million deal when the player returns from holiday.

The other positions are less clear.

A striker is the biggest priority for Arsenal in this transfer window, having failed to bring one in in either of the last two transfer windows when they deseprately needed to.

It looks like a straight shootout between Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres, the two players the Gunners have been linked with in this window.

Sesko would be the smart choice, given his top league experience and his age – 22 – but he is likely to cost more than Gyokeres, who, let’s face it, is a superstar in front of goal – albeit in the Portuguese league.

Arsenal were interested in signing Dean Huijsen before he joined Real Madrid, but another defender is still in their plans. Jorrel Hato has been linked with the Gunners before and the 19-year-old has once again emerged as a target, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The teenager was named Eredivisie young player of the season and securing his signing would be quite the coup for Arsenal.

Then, to round it all off, a wide forward. Arteta is a big admirer of Nico Williams, but his wage demands may prove tricky. And anyway, in a best case scenario there is another, probably better choice – Rodrygo.

Tipped for a move away from Real Madrid, Rodrygo is a star in the making and could be just the statement signing – aside from the striker deal – to make the rest of the Premier League sit up and take notice of the Gunners.
