Cody Gakpo and Virgil van Dijk were on the scoresheet for the Netherlands as nine Liverpool players featured in international matches across the weekend.

In Europe’s World Cup qualifiers on Saturday, Milos Kerkez and Dominik Szoboszlai helped Hungary to a 2-0 home win over Armenia.

Kerkez was taken off in the last minute of normal time and Szoboszlai completed the full match as he captained his country.

Elsewhere, Giorgi Mamardashvili was in the thick of the action as Georgia were beaten 2-0 away at Spain.

Amid a number of saves, the goalkeeper also made amends by thwarting a Ferran Torres penalty that he had conceded himself.

Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni played as England U19s beat Belgium 4-1 in a friendly.

Ngumoha started and was withdrawn midway through the second half, while Nyoni was introduced from the bench at the same time.

On Sunday, Gakpo, Ryan Gravenberch and Van Dijk were all in the Dutch starting XI to face Finland in World Cup qualifying.

The latter netted his country’s second goal of an eventual 4-0 win, stooping to meet a free-kick with a close-range headed finish.

And Gakpo completed the scoring in Amsterdam by rifling in a clinical drive from the edge of the box six minutes from the end.

Gakpo and Van Dijk featured for the whole game, while Gravenberch was withdrawn at half-time. Jeremie Frimpong remained on the bench.

Andy Robertson was also in action and aided a victory in the preliminaries for the 2026 tournament.

Liverpool’s No.26 skippered Scotland to a 2-1 home success over Belarus, claiming an assist for their second goal of the evening.
