The agent of Liverpool star Ryan Gravenberch has talked up a move to Real Madrid, claiming: “We would love for him to play for them.” Gravenberch, 22, has been an essential cog in Arne Slot’s side who look certain to lift the Premier League title.

After a difficult first year under Jurgen Klopp, the midfielder has made himself into one of the first names on the teamsheet. Liverpool’s failure to sign Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi last summer left Slot without a recognised No.6 and he turned to Gravenberch.

Those comments suggest that a move this summer is unlikely, with Real already due to sign one Liverpool player in Trent Alexander-Arnold. But given Madrid’s current midfield options and the fact that club legend Luka Modric turns 40 in September, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them go for Gravenberch in 2026.

The 22-year-old is enjoying his football at Liverpool, though, and ‘loves’ working with Slot. Speaking to Liverpool’s matchday programme earlier this month, Gravenberch said: “Obviously, last year was a big adjustment for me, transferring clubs and settling in to a new country.

“It takes time. This season, I’m playing more, I’m feeling more confident and physically I’m in better shape. And, to be honest, I believe that I’ve been taking better care of myself in terms of recovery and diet, too.

“I get on really well with him (Slot). I value his clarity and directness. He’s very clear in what he wants from us players and I like that in a coach. I know where I stand and he knows what to expect from me. Plus, I love his style of play, building from the back – that’s how I was brought up.”
