Sky Sports reporter hailed for brilliant interview with Liverpool hero Darwin Nunez

Darwin Nunez, who has struggled for regular starts under boss Arne Slot, but after his late brace to help Liverpool beat Brentford 2-0 in stoppage time, he sent a message that he is ready for more action
Fans have heaped praise on a Sky Sports reporter for her impressive interview with Liverpool star Darwin Nunez, as she blended both English and Spanish to translate her discussion with the Uruguayan forward.
Nunez was Liverpool’s match-winning hero against Brentford on Saturday night as he struck twice in stoppage time to secure a vital 2-0 win, which put the Reds six points clear of Arsenal at the top of the table.
It’s been a tough season for Nunez, who has struggled for regular starts under boss Arne Slot, but his late salvo after being brought on as a substitute sends a big message that he is ready for more action.
Natalie Gedra was in charge of Nunez’s interview for Sky Sports, and with the former Benfica star speaking little English, she introduced what she was planning to talk about with the 25-year-old.
Virgil van Dijk reveals advice to Darwin Nunez before Liverpool heroics at Brentford
“Here he is, the hero of this match, the hero of this Liverpool win against Brentford. Nunez scored two goals so I’m going to start talking to him and asking him about the circumstances of the match, two goals after 90 minutes.”
Gedra then turned to Nunez and spoke to him in Spanish. She translated what he said and revealed the player said the season hadn’t been easy for him but was happy with his “important” goals.
She then explained that she was going to ask him about his struggles to get in the Liverpool first team, continuing: “I’m going to ask about this challenging season that he’s had because he hasn’t been the first option as a striker for Liverpool.”

After Nunez spoke, Gedra added: “He said he never throws in the towel and if he’s struggling with finishing then he will try more on a daily basis. He knows he’s going through a tough time but will continue giving everything he can to Liverpool. These two goals he scored today will make a good cause for him.”
Fans were delighted with the unique viewing experience, with players who speak little English usually shying away from post-match interviews. One fan commented on YouTube: “Having this new Sky reporter is brilliant. She essentially unlocks all the Spanish and South American players that we rarely get to hear from. She’s fantastic.”
Another added: “Massive respect to that reporter and the interview in general, I hope everyone’s praise for her and how this interview was conducted actually gets through to Sky Sports and forces a bit of change. This allows foreign players to integrate into the English leagues more naturally and more confidently.”

A third was also left impressed and said: “Forgetting the fact that this interviewer has many languages, but she asks questions us the fans want to know, Nunez is a mystery on and off the field. Good to hear him talk. Great interview.”
Nunez now has six goals in all competitions, with four in the Premier League, and Slot said he was “very happy” with the player, adding: “I think he’s having a good season, where he scores goals, he works very hard for the team, he assists. But he’s in competition with a lot of good players, so that’s why he’s not every single game on the pitch.
“But I’m very happy with him – not only because he scored today two goals but that, of course, helps – but I’m very happy with the other performances he put in for us as well.”
