Sources: Liverpool’s January Marc Guehi transfer plan revealed
Liverpool are set to reignite their interest in Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi in January, sources have told Football Insider.
Guehi’s move to Anfield was blocked by Palace even after the transfer deal sheet was submitted, with the South London club unable to find a replacement for their captain.
However, sources say that it is expected that Liverpool will go back in for the 25-year-old at the start of next year, when the transfer window reopens.
With his contract at Selhurst Park expiring next summer, Guehi would be available for a reduced price in the new year, which could tempt Liverpool into making another approach.

Marc Guehi failure dampens Liverpool’s historic window
Liverpool broke the British transfer record twice during the transfer window, in what was a historic summer for the Merseyside club.
The Reds signed Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen for £116million, before pulling off a deadline day move for Alexander Isak in a deal worth £125m.
However, Liverpool’s failure to complete their pursuit of Guehi leaves them relying on the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate to stay fit, to ensure their title defence isn’t derailed.

Depending on the situation, it would be no surprise if Arne Slot’s side went back in for the Palace captain in January to strengthen their defensive depth.
If the Premier League champions are clear at the top of the table though, they could realistically wait until next summer, when they will be able to sign Guehi on a free transfer.

Liverpool set for Ibrahima Konate contract talks
Meanwhile, Liverpool will hold fresh talks over a new contract for Konate now the transfer deadline has passed, sources have told Football Insider.
Real Madrid are believed to be keeping close tabs on the centre-back with a view to landing him for free when his deal expires next summer.
This comes after Football Insider revealed on 31 August that Liverpool are not concerned about Konate’s future despite his poor start to the season.
The Reds remain determined to tie him down to new terms, and keep him at the club beyond the end of the 2025/26 campaign.
