As first team players began to return from international duty, Stefan Bajcetic joined Jeremie Frimpong and Alexander Isak for Liverpool at the AXA Training Centre.
Today’s Main LFC Headline
Many of Liverpool’s first team players weren’t back from international duty, but there was notable training news as Bajcetic returned to action after a hamstring surgery set him back at the end of May.
After breaking through in January 2023, Bajcetic has since suffered multiple injuries, the latest coming following his relatively successful loan spell at Las Palmas.
Having returned to gym work in August, he has continued his rehabilitation with the senior squad and was pictured in training on Wednesday.
He was seen running on the pitches and taking part in exercises.
Also present was Frimpong, who has been missing since the first game of the season due to a hamstring problem sustained against Bournemouth.
In addition, Alexander Isak took part in his first Liverpool training session, after playing 18 minutes for Sweden in his first appearance since May 25.
Joe Gomez, Federico Chiesa, Jayden Danns and Freddie Woodman also trained, as did Kaide Gordon, Terence Miles, Carter Pinnington and Kieran Morrison, who were among those involved ahead of the senior squad’s return on Thursday.
Today’s Liverpool FC News
• Liverpool’s 18-year-old defender, Emmanuel Airoboma, has signed his first professional contract for the club ahead of a season in the under-21 squad
• Federico Chiesa is claimed to have rejected interest from Fenerbahce, because he “believes it is more valuable to compete with top players” than “risk embarrassment” of another move not living up “to expectations,” according to Gazzetta dello Sport
With rumours continuing to circulate about the status of Ibrahima Konate‘s Liverpool future, Joanna Durkan looked into why the Reds are currently being pragmatic about his contract, which expires next summer:
“There is no question that the 26-year-old, on his day, is comparable to the best in the game, such is his pace, strength and ability to dominate in the air.
“And it cannot be forgotten the vast spaces he has had to defend with an attacking right full-back by his side, asking him different questions than what Van Dijk is presented with.
“The case Liverpool will be making, though, is that he is not a consistent performer, especially when his captain is not to his left.”
Lukasz Fabianski has returned to West Ham one a one-year deal – this comes after the Hammers’ third-choice goalkeeper Wes Foderingham left for join Aris Limassol
• Omar Marmoush will not be available for Man City‘s match against Man United on Sunday – he picked up a knee injury playing for Egypt this week
• Former referee David Coote has been charged with a Category A offence in making an indecent image of a child
Kip on the Kop 2025
Kip on the Kop returned for its third edition as over 400 people, including Sammy Lee, Chris Kirkland and comedian John Bishop, slept at Anfield on Saturday night.
The event was hosted in order to raise awareness of homelessness and collect money for Liverpool Homeless FC, a charity that have established a homeless league that brings together many homelessness organisations across Merseyside.
The fundraiser has been a success with over £80,000 raised this year. You can still donate here.
