Liverpool set to loan or sell Jarell Quansah to secure Dean Huijsen – reports

Liverpool have intensified their pursuit of Bournemouth centre-back Dean Huijsen, presenting a comprehensive proposal to the 20-year-old Spanish international, according to Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg. The Reds are reportedly prepared to activate Huijsen’s £50m release clause, viewing him as a potential successor to Jarell Quansah, who may depart Anfield either on loan or permanently this summer.

Huijsen, who transferred from Juventus to Bournemouth for €15m last year, has made a significant impact in his debut Premier League season. His performances have attracted interest from several top clubs, including Chelsea, Arsenal, Newcastle, and Real Madrid. While Huijsen has expressed a desire to play for Real Madrid, the Spanish club is reportedly hesitant to meet his release clause, focusing instead on other targets.

Chelsea are currently leading the race for Huijsen’s signature, with reports suggesting the club is willing to meet the £50m release clause and offer a long-term contract. The Blues aim to finalize the deal before the Club World Cup in June.

Despite the mounting speculation, Huijsen remains focused on his current club. “I’m very calm. I don’t really focus on it. Now is not the time. I’m just focused on finishing the season well,” he said. His father, who acts as his agent, is handling transfer discussions.

As the summer transfer window approaches, the competition for Huijsen’s signature is expected to intensify, with Liverpool and Chelsea at the forefront.
