Hugo Ekitike and Milos Kerkez Claim Liverpool Ace is ‘Fastest in the World’
New Liverpool signings Hugo Ekitike and Milos Kerkez have claimed that one of their teammates is the “fastest player in the world.” The duo arrived at Anfield this summer during a historic transfer window, in which the Reds aimed to fix the roof while the sun was still shining on last season’s Premier League title win.
They were joined by two British transfer record signings, Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak, while Jeremie Frimpong arrived as Trent Alexander-Arnold’s replacement following the Englishman’s move to Real Madrid ahead of the Club World Cup. It appeared that Marc Guehi might also join on deadline day, only for Crystal Palace to pull the rug from under him at the eleventh hour.
Among the signings that did go through, Kerkez and Ekitike – both of whom have impressed early at Anfield – singled out one teammate as the fastest footballer on the planet, giving manager Arne Slot’s side a new dimension they might have lacked last term.
Jeremie Frimpong The ‘Fastest Player in the World’ According to Teammates
Last season, the likes of Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah were no slouches. But those at the AXA training ground have been left mightily impressed by just how fast Frimpong is, whose release clause of £29.5 million was triggered by the Reds back in May, before the window had officially opened.
When asked by EASFC Mobile on Instagram to name the fastest player in the Liverpool team, Ekitike and Kerkez had no hesitation. “Jeremie, every day,” said Ekitike. “Too fast, too quick,” Kerkez agreed, before his French teammate, who has already scored three goals at his new club, added (watch the full segment below):
“I think he’s the fastest in the world.”
Frimpong is a completely different full-back to Trent, offering more explosive runs to the touchline compared with the pinpoint, cautious approach of his predecessor, who wouldn’t force the issue by twisting the needle, but rather pick his moments.
Yet, with 14 goals and 12 assists across the last two Bundesliga seasons, he is more than capable of contributing in attack – so much so that he has already been mooted as Salah’s understudy for when the Egyptian King heads to AFCON in January.
GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Jeremie Frimpong recorded the fastest top speed in the opening weekend of the Premier League, clocking in a speed of 36.1 km/h (22.43 mph).

Along with Ekitike and Kerkez, Giorgi Mamardashvili joined the panel to decide which player deserves a rating increase on the EAFC game. As part of the process, they were also asked who was the Liverpool player with the best footballing brain, to which it seemed like another answer that required no hesitation, as they all agreed with Alexis Mac Allister.
