The main summer transfer window has officially reopened with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool set to finalise some big deals.
Arsenal, who are confident of signing Martin Zubimendi despite reported interest from Real Madrid, remain on the hunt to bolster their attacking options amid talks for Benjamin Sesko and persistent links to Viktor Gyokeres as well as Ollie Watkins. Meanwhile, Nico Williams, Johan Bakayoko and Antonio Nusa are said to be on the Gunners’ radar, as is Lille defender Alexsandro. Chelsea are in talks over German sensation Nick Woltemade and the Blues continue to target Jamie Gittens and Mike Maignan, having also approached Lyon over Malick Fofana.
Manchester United have turned to Hugo Ekitike and Liverpool are closing in on the signing of Milos Kerkez having scheduled a medical for Floran Wirtz after agreeing a £116m British-record deal. Tottenham are pressing ahead with moves to make signings for Thomas Frank, with Bryan Mbeumo and Yoanne Wissa linked with a reunion with their former Brentford boss, as well as Arnaud Kalimuendo at Rennes. Gareth Southgate in line for shock management return
Former England manager Gareth Southgate has applied to become the new head coach of Poland’s national team, reports claim.
The 54-year-old has been out of a job since he stepped down as England manager last July following his side’s defeat to Spain in the Euro 2024 final.
Southgate led England to the 2018 World Cup semi-finals, the Euro 2020 final, the 2022 World Cup quarter-finals, and the Euro 2024 final.
Southgate was also considered a potential candidate for the Manchester United job in 2024 following Erik ten Hag’s underwhelming start to the 2024-25 campaign.

Man Utd join race for Gabriel Sara
Manchester United have joined the race for Galatasaray midfielder Gabriel Sara.
The Brazilian only signed for the Super Lig champions from Norwich last summer, but is said to be courting interest from Premier League clubs, including Manchester City.
However, according to Fotomac, Man Utd are monitoring the situation with Sara as they look to add to their midfield.
That said, the Turkish media outlet report Sara won’t come cheap and that Galatasaray will only listen to offers in the region of €30m (£25.5m).
Frank loses one of his closest allies
One of Thomas Frank’s closest allies will not be joining him at Tottenham.
Claus Norgaard was Frank’s assistant at Brentford and it was announced on Monday that he was leaving the Bees.
But Norgaard will not be following Frank from Brentford to Spurs like Justin Cochrane, Chris Haslam and Joe Newton.
Explaining why he will not be moving to Spurs, Norgaard told Danish outlet Bold: “There were several things that came into play when Thomas moved to Tottenham. Personally, I couldn’t make it fit in that well.
Man Utd discover Carnesecchi asking price
There has been an update regarding Manchester United’s reported pursuit of Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi.
Over the weekend, it emerged that the Italian is one of the names being considered by the Red Devils should they replace Andre Onana.
According to TuttoAtalanta, United will have to pay as much as €50m (£42.6m) to land the 24-year-old this summer.

Brighton have strengthened again!
Italy international Diego Coppola becomes the club’s second major signing of the summer window as he joins from Serie A club Hellas Verona on a five-year deal.
Head coach Fabian Hurzeler said, “Diego is an exciting addition for the club.
“Although he is still young, he is tall, strong and mobile and he will give us a real physical presence.
“He has made impressive progress in Serie A and deserved his call-up to the Italian national team. We look forward to helping him develop even more.”
Osimhen latest
Al-Hilal have not given up hope of signing Victor Osimhen.
Having missed out on a deal to bring the Nigeria to the club before pre-Club World Cup deadline passed, reports claim they are considering an improved offer.
Reports claim that Al-Hilal hope to entice Osimhen with a stunning £42.6million (€50m) per year offer.
Manchester United will be watching developments closely amid claims of Osimhen being a high-profile target of theirs.
Calafiori: I’m happy at Arsenal
Riccardo Calafiori has insisted that he is happy at Arsenal.
The Italian has been linked with a move back to the Serie A despite only joining the Gunners last year.
He had an injury-laden season last term, making 19 appearances in his first campaign in north London, but he told Di Marzio that he was content with where he was.
“At Arsenal, I’m very happy,” he said.
“I always feel good in any position I play in order to help the team. What was missing last season was consistency and I’ll look to find that consistency next season.
“When I felt good, I always played and made a difference in the team. So the goal next season is to be in form for the whole season.”
Liverpool enter Fofana race
Liverpool are also in the race to sign Lyon’s Malick Fofana.
On Monday, it was revealed that Chelsea made informal contact with the Ligue 1 side for the 20-year-old.
But according to L’Equipe, Liverpool are looking at him too.
Fofana has only been at Lyon since January 2024 but he established himself as a regular last season, scoring 11 goals and claiming six assists in 41 appearances across all competitions.

Simons to leave Leipzig
Big news coming out of Germany!
The Athletic are reporting that Xavi Simons has told RB Leipzig that he wishes to leave the club this summer.
The midfielder has previously been linked with a move to the Premier League, so this news may alert the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool.
Any interested party will have to stump up the cash as Leipzig are said to be determined to resist offers below €70m (£59m).
