The summer transfer window has closed after the majority of Premier League clubs were busy on deadline day.

 

Teams had an extra two hours to complete any deals that were still in progress — but Marc Guehi stayed at Crystal Palace despite an agreement being reached between them and Liverpool.

 

The Premier League champions announced the arrival of Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, breaking the British transfer record for the second time this summer.

Fiorentina sign Brighton’s Lamptey in £6m deal

 



 

 

 

Tariq Lamptey has completed a permanent move from Brighton & Hove Albion to Fiorentina in a deal worth around £6million.

 

Lamptey made 103 Premier League appearances for Brighton, including 57 starts, across five-and-a-half seasons following a £3m package move from Chelsea in January 2020.

 

The 24-year-old Ghana international has suffered injury problems during his time at the Amex Stadium. He agreed a one-year contract extension in June, with the possibility of still leaving in this window in search of more regular game time.

Manchester City are ready to sanction an exit for Ederson — if they sign Gianluigi Donnarumma as his replacement.

 

Paris Saint-Germain, the Italy international’s current club, expect Donnarumma to make a move to the Etihad Stadium before Monday’s transfer deadline.

United agree terms with Antwerp’s Lammens

 



 

 

 

Manchester United have agreed personal terms with Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens, but there is not yet a club-to-club agreement on a transfer.

 

The 23-year-old would have to travel to Manchester this morning if the deal has a realistic chance of completion ahead of this evening’s transfer deadline, with Aston Villa also monitoring his situation.

 

Lammens, whose preference is for a move to Old Trafford and who is valued by Antwerp at €25million, has his future tied in with that of Villa’s Emi Martinez, who has also been considered at United.

 

Martinez, 32, was not included in Villa’s matchday squad against Crystal Palace on Sunday, and talks remain on with him too.

 

United want to address the goalkeeping situation following errors from Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana in the opening weeks of the season.

Don’t expect Danns to depart Liverpool

Young Liverpool striker Jayden Danns won’t be going anywhere today.

 

The 19-year-old academy graduate has been attracting plenty of interest regarding a possible loan deal.

 

Liverpool are managing his fitness carefully, however, following his recovery from injury and intend to keep him on board. They will reassess the situation ahead of the winter transfer window.

 

Danns, who has gone away on England Under-20s duty, joined Sunderland on loan back in January but didn’t make an appearance for them due to a back problem.

 

Youngsters Stefan Bajcetic, Calum Scanlon and Luke Chambers will also stay at Liverpool on deadline day as they recover from injuries. Bajcetic is in the final stage of his rehab after surgery on his hamstring in May.

 

Kaide Gordon could go out on loan with Blackpool among his suitors. Rhys Williams is also hoping to secure a move having entered the final year of his contract.

Glasner very strong on wanting Guehi to stay

 



 

 

 

Crystal Palace are caught in a very awkward position: they want to keep Marc Guehi but they know that if they don’t sell him to Liverpool today, they will almost certainly lose him for free next summer.

 

After the England defender’s goalscoring performance last night, Oliver Glasner was asked about his future.

 

“There is no deal. We can decide, he’s our player, he’s under contract, he’s not striking. Nobody forces anybody to sign a deal. It’s up to us. The only one who decides if Marc stays at Palace or not is our chairman.

 

“For me, there is no option to sell him. I don’t have the final decision. I can be that clear because I have been that clear internally as well. I completely understand the club, the club completely understands me. The club has to take a decision which direction it has to go. Let’s see what happens tomorrow.

 

“(I understand it) from a financial perspective. It’s a tempting situation. It’s a challenging situation.”

Gomez’s future tied to Liverpool’s Guehi interest

Joe Gomez’s future is heavily linked to what happens with Liverpool’s pursuit of Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi on deadline day.

 

Senior Anfield sources indicated after Sunday’s game against Arsenal that the club’s longest-serving player, who is the subject of interest from AC Milan, was unlikely to depart.

 

Gomez came off the bench to play an important cameo in the 1-0 victory.

 

Liverpool’s hopes of signing Guehi are in the balance with Palace so far reluctant to sanction the sale of their skipper following a £35million bid. Manager Oliver Glasner has made it clear that he’s desperate to keep him.

 

If Guehi doesn’t join Liverpool today then Gomez will stay put as one of the club’s four senior centre-backs alongside Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Giovanni Leoni. If Palace sell Guehi to Liverpool then that would open the door for a possible permanent exit for Gomez.

Having got the bulk of their summer business done very early, Liverpool are leaving it late to finish up.

 

Along with their pursuit of Isak, they could also agree a deal for Marc Guehi. The Crystal Palace captain, who scored in last 3-0 win against Aston Villa, is into the final year of his contract in south London and is available a cut price.

 

David Ornstein revealed on Saturday that the Premier League champions had submitted a £35million bid for Guehi but, at the time, there had been no response.

 

Palace will need to secure a replacement in the event that the 25-year-old leaves — he is open to the move if an agreement is reached between the clubs.

In a summer of messy transfer sagas, here’s another one.

 

Having played in Aston Villa’s second game of the campaign, Emiliano Martinez was not involved for them against Crystal Palace last night.

 

According to our very own Laurie Whitwell and Jacob Tanswell, he is the subject of transfer interest from Manchester United, although there is no guarantee that they will be signing a goalkeeper, despite the troubles of Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir so far this season.

 

Senne Lammens is also a potential option for Manchester United, but could also go to Villa if Martinez is sold.

 

Got all that?

 

Oh, and Jadon Sancho could be on his way to Aston Villa!

 

 

And could Wissa be on his way to Tyneside?

 

 

 

Isak is not the only Premier League striker to have ostracised himself from his team-mates this summer.

 

Yoane Wissa has also not been involved for his club, Brentford, amid transfer speculation linking him to Newcastle. The 28-year-old, having stayed quiet all summer, released a statement on Sunday which was a little disparaging of his current employers.

 

“I have stayed silent for much of the summer, but with just hours remaining of the transfer window I feel compelled make it clear that I want to leave Brentford.

 

“I believe the club are unduly standing in my way despite a series of fair offers throughout the summer. I have always given 100 percent for Brentford since the day I signed back in 2021.

 

“I am proud of what we have built together and have never taken the opportunity to play for the club for granted.”

Chelsea’s Kellyman agrees Cardiff loan deal

 

 

 

Chelsea forward Omari Kellyman has agreed to join Cardiff City on a season-long loan.

 

Kellyman joined Chelsea from Aston Villa for a fee in the region of £19million in June 2024 but has yet to make an appearance for the senior side.

 

The 19-year-old played just four times and a combined 158 minutes for Chelsea’s under-21s last season. Kellyman’s lack of impact so far is due to sustaining two major hamstring injuries, the first in August 2024 and the second in his first start back seven months later.

 

Kellyman had an operation to cure the problem and only began pre-season training a couple of weeks ago.

 

The England Under-20 international will be given time to work further on his fitness before making his debut but the hope is he will get regular football for the League One side.

 

Chelsea have installed a break clause in the loan which can be triggered in January.

 

Newcastle have now signed a striker

 

 

The issue for much of the summer was that Newcastle could not sell Isak because they didn’t have any cover for him. Having also lost Callum Wilson, Eddie Howe could not afford to lose his star striker.

 

That has now changed. Newcastle announced the signing of Nick Woltemade on Saturday for a club-record fee of €75million (£65m; $87.6m) deal, plus €5m (£4.3m; $5.8m) in potential add-ons.

 

That would make losing Isak more manageable, but they will want to add another striker if the Sweden international leaves today, I’m sure.

Liverpool agree £130m deal for Isak

 

 

Liverpool have reached an agreement to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United.

 

The deal is worth £130million ($176m) to Newcastle due to solidarity payments and will cost Liverpool £125m.

 

The Athletic reported earlier on Sunday that talks regarding Isak’s potential Liverpool move were ramping up ahead of the transfer deadline.

 

The Premier League champions previously saw an offer of a £110m for the 25-year-old rejected by the north-east club, having previously indicated their willingness to do a deal for £120m.

 

Isak publicly stated his desire to leave Newcastle and has not featured in the pre-season or any of the club’s first three Premier League games of the campaign.

Everton exploring Rohl deal

Everton are exploring a move Freiburg midfielder Merlin Rohl ahead of tonight’s deadline, but would face a race against time to get a deal over the line.

 

The Merseyside have been looking to improve their midfield options before the close of the window and recently saw an approach rejected for West Ham United’s Tomas Soucek.

 

There has been interest in academy graduate Harrison Armstrong from the Championship, who would likely be granted a loan move elsewhere should this deal go through, while stalwart Idrissa Gueye is set to feature in December’s AFCON with Senegal.

 

Rohl has been on Everton’s radar for around 12 months, with the club having expressed an interest in signing him last January.

 

The 23-year-old competed for Germany at this summer’s Under-21 European Championship and is held in high regard as a mobile, attack-minded midfielder capable of playing as a No 8 or 10.

 

Elsewhere, Youssef Chermiti is expected to complete his move to Rangers today.

 

The deal for the 21-year-old striker comprises an initial fee of around £8million, plus £2m in add-ons. The package also includes a significant sell-on clause based on the profit Rangers make on any future transfer.
